I grew up in a small town in Northwest Wisconsin and attended the local school system before attending college in Wisconsin and Texas. I was involved in band, hockey, baseball, skiing, cycling and enjoyed the outdoors. Early on, in school it was thought I had a learning disability or was a slow learner. As it turned out I had a vision problem called Retinitis Pigmentosa, RP for short. It is a disease that over time, robs people of their sight, some faster than others. While in high school I worked at a small grocery and local restaurant. During my junior and senior years I worked with a tower construction company erecting cell towers. Once in college for Manufacturing Engineering, I also established a business repairing lighting systems on cellular towers. While finishing the Manufacturing Engineering program my vision became so poor I could no longer see a computer screen or printed materials. This forced me to change directions and I then enrolled in a Master's Degree program in Vocational Rehabilitation. While completing my masters in vocational rehabilitation I completed an internship at the Washington State School for the Blind, in Vancouver Washington, and then gained employment as a vocational counselor with the state of Texas working mainly with younger persons with vision problems and developing programs to help them gain confidence and independence. After several years with the state of Texas I decided to challenge myself and try a different career path and enrolled in law school. Once accepted at Texas Tech University I pursued an education in Law and at the same time completed a master's degree program in Personal Financial Planning. I successfully completed the law program with a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree along with a Master's Degree in Personal Financial Planning and managed to graduate Graduated Magna Cum Laude. I think you can see in this brief history I am a determined and focused individual who had to overcome many obstacles and challenges in my life. I bring that commitment and perseverance to work with me each day helping myself and others to accomplish and succeed. Best Regards
